Pietro D’Agostino is one of those chefs that has travelled a lot, looking to achieve that level
of knowledge by working on ships and hotels, before going back to his Taormina with his head full of ideas.
Creatività. Memoria e Territorio gathers everything he’s learned from his experience abroad and the love and respect he feels for his Sicily, which he observes every single day from the window of his family home on the hill of Taormina. The book is a series of recipes that showcase traditional Sicilian ingredients in a more international and sophisticated version. It’s made up of four chapters that represent the four elements of life: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Elements that have become the absolute main characters of these dishes and that represent the beginning of a long dialogue between farmers, winemakers, fishermen and butchers, who are the wisest experts of our territory.
Pietro D’Agostino was born in Taormina in 1972 where he attended a culinary academy. After various experiences in Italy and abroad, in 2003 he opens his restaurant, La Capinera, a place where he can express the richness of the Sicilian cuisine with a smart and innovative creativity. He receives his first Michelin star in 2008, he enters the JRE and the Charming Italian Chef. He is an ambassador of Sicilian cuisine around the world, especially because he personally chooses every single ingredient that lands on his table. In 2017 he launches two new projects: an innovative food and wine point in the heart of Taormina called Kistè, characterised by an easy gourmet formula and essential cooking, and his first product line, available under his trademark Io Pietro D’Agostino and selected directly by him.
